Transformation Day 2012: Update for 10/31/11

public domain image of a butterflyI can’t believe that it’s been 14 weeks since I recommitted to a low-carb way of eating.  The time is absolutely flying by, and although I felt like something of a “low-carb know-it-all” before starting my Transformation Day 2012 challenge back in July, I’m just now realizing how many new and exciting resources there are for folks interested in paleo and low-carb eating plans.

As far as my weight goes, this past week has been all over the place.  I hit a new low this time around — 256.4.  If I’d held onto that loss, it would have been nice, but it wasn’t meant to be this week.  My “official” weight for today was 258.4 pounds.  That means that I gained the .6 pounds that I had lost last week, but it still leaves my overall loss at 21.4 pounds over these past 14 weeks.

I know that over this past week, my weight has been affected by several factors.  First of all, for some odd reason, I’ve really been craving cheese.  Normally, I eat most of my calories from paleo-friendly foods, but over this past week, I found myself turning to cheese much too often.  I suspect that there’s something of a hormonal component (sometimes it stinks being a girl) which would explain my weight gain, but I can’t be entirely certain since my cycles are still extremely irregular.

Overall though, I remain positive.  I’m not stressed by the fact that today is Halloween, a celebration that’s probably the bane of 99% folks who’re trying to lose weight and eat “healthy”.  We’ll be taking our children for the obligatory candy-grab, but most of their bounty will likely get pawned off on unsuspecting grown-ups at my husband’s office.  I’m less strict with my kids’ eating.  After all, they don’t suffer from the health issues that plague me and my husband — YET.  Hopefully, by being a little more careful with my kids’ eating plan, I can head a lot of these issues off at the pass and give them a better chance than we had.

I plan to start sharing menus again too.  I think it really helps keep me accountable.  I need that.  It can be entirely too easy to fall into bad habits when nobody’s looking, and since I want success more than anything, I don’t want to set myself up for failure.  Planning your meals and providing those meals for yourself is an exceptional way to support a healthy lifestyle and weight loss.

Also, folks, remember that it’s not too late to join me! I’d love to hear stories about other folks’ journeys.  It’s so much easier to get to your destination when you have some company for the journey, right? So join me and commit to make December 21, 2012 a positive day of change for your life.  You’re worth it! You deserve it!
