It’s amazing how a perspective can change over just one week’s time. This week’s Transformation Day 2012 update brings some exciting news just in time for Christmas!
After 21 weeks, my progress is still plugging along. I got REALLY sick last week, and that gave me a chance to reset my body. I’m clear of the junk that had been polluting my body and my attitude, and I’m back on track.
This morning, I weighed 250.6 pounds, but the more exciting news — I saw 249.6 on the scale this past weekend! I was so shocked because I first saw the 250s back around October 12. I’d actually gotten used to hearing my scale say “two hundred fifty (something) pounds”, so I wasn’t really prepared for the reality of moving into a new decade. I’m not disturbed by the fact that my weight bumped back up a bit — there are some hormonal reasons for that — and I’m definitely excited.
Also, I had an amazing experience yesterday. My kids’ God mother came to visit yesterday. I hadn’t seen her in a year. and when she came into my kitchen to talk to me, she said, “You’re looking GOOD. Have you lost weight?” I told her that yes, I had lost about 30 pounds since July, and she said, “Well, I’m sure nobody needed to tell you that you needed to. I was pretty concerned for you and your health, but it’s of course none of my business.”
I was stunned that my weight loss was noticed, because starting out at almost 280 pounds, you don’t think that someone is going to notice when you lose 30 pounds. I mean, I notice, because I have to put on my clothes every day, but I’ve always felt like losing 10% of your body weight when you’re as big as I am doesn’t really make that big a difference. Apparently, it did though.
I won’t be doing an update next week. My family and I have been blessed with the gift of a trip to the Florida Gulf Coast. This’ll be just the third vacation I’ve taken in my married life, and I can’t wait to recharge by the Gulf, even if it’s only going to get into the low 60s each day. I’ll get some good exercise, I’ll eat healthy foods, and if I’m lucky, I’ll come back from “vacation” having lost a little weight too. If you can, take that same opportunity to recharge yourself. Being refreshed really does help you get to where you want to be as you claim your own liberty in somewhat trying times.
Congrats on the weight loss!
Thanks. It’s slow going, and it’s hard work, but it’s going to be well worth it in the end.
