Liberty Alert: Hoosiers Still Don’t Have the Right to Prevent Cops’ Illegal Entry

After much protesting by citizens and around 70 members of our state’s General Assembly, the Indiana Supreme Court revisited it’s decision from earlier this year regarding a citizen’s rights to prevent police from illegally entering his or her home.  Much to my dismay, they upheld their May decision which says that we citizens can’t so much as stand in our doorway or lock our door to prevent a police officer from entering illegally.

Now, I want to make it clear.  I respect the job that our state’s law enforcement officers do every day.  They’re often over-worked, under-appreciated, and under-paid.  This doesn’t mean, however, that there aren’t a few bad eggs out there that spoil the whole bunch, and frankly, the idea that I can be arrested for simply saying, “No, Officer, I’m sorry, but you cannot enter my home,”, is terrifying.

In my view, it’s a 4th Amendment rights issue, but according to our Supreme Court, it’s an issue that our General Assembly will have to address.  I’m assuming they will, but in the meantime, I’m worried.

And when someone impersonating a police officer demands admittance to our homes and we let them in and they practically kill us, can we sue the state supreme court? This is one of the stupidest rulings I’ve ever heard…Show me a warrant and I’ll let you into my home…I’m not a criminal, have never been a criminal, and don’t intend to become a criminal, but I still want to see that warrant. When people say, “If you haven’t done anything wrong, you don’t have anything to worry about.” make me want to roll my eyes and laugh at how stupid they are…

    • Impersonation is something that really concerns me being that I’m legally blind. I have no way to verify if someone CLAIMING to be a cop is really a cop other than calling 911 and verifying. But according to this stupid law, you can’t even say, “Can you wait ’til I verify that you’re for real?”

oh my, that makes it even worse for you…this is a stupid law and something terrible will happen because of it…see, we’ve always been told that if someone is following you and trying to pull you over and you question whether or not they’re really a cop, just drive to the police station…well, what can we do in our homes? Idiots…stupid politicians and stupid lawyers…stay safe…
